MADAGASCAR RARE METAL COMPANY

MADAGASCAR

Madagascar is one of the most important producers of graphite (graphite)

Madagascar has some of the largest graphite reserves in the world and produces high-quality graphite. The country’s graphite is known for its particularly high purity and good crystalline structure, and is used in diverse applications such as batteries, electrode materials, lubricants and refractory materials.

The graphite industry in Madagascar also plays an important role in the country’s economy, contributing not only to the local economy but also creating jobs. Furthermore, the future potential of Madagascar’s graphite industry is very high, as the demand for graphite as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries is increasing due to the widespread use of electric vehicles.

Only five companies are officially authorized to mine and export graphite from the eastern region of Madagascar.

Since before COVID-19, only long-time operators continue to operate, while other applications remain suspended, although there are many many mining sites.

The FOB price is determined by our administration based on the carbon content and the analysis results of the product. While carbon content is a key factor from a mining standpoint, it is not possible to arrange processing in Madagascar to extract only the carbon. Carbon extraction requires a different level of graphite mining which does not exist in Madagascar.

Gallois and PSD have Chinese and Malagasy partners, while Tirupati and Rostaing have Indian and Malagasy partners. Madagascar Graphite and Mines exports their graphite to Europe and Australia.

We buy and trade legally and from all of the licensed companies and their supply chains in Madagascar at scale and most safely, to deliver the best price without financial or fraud risk, payment upon delivery and inspection at your port. To apply and discuss an order, contact us or visit us in Japan or USA.

Société Gallois, a large old French company, has been bought by the Chinese. Ambinaninony meanwhile isthe closest site we can go to to the Madagascar capital, 73 km away on the road to Antananarivo. The site is only 800m from the national road. It is controlled by Indians. The mine operator Tirupati is supplying the majority for India and Japan.

– Here, currently in 2025 the machinery and operations are shut down. They also needed at last checkin to reclaim millions in VAT rebate from the Tana government.
– The site has the entire production processes, including the entire purification system.
– They are currently performing maintenance and adding technical components to increase production capacity, which could reach 1,000 tons per month from September
– There is a quality testing lab herem and production will be based on customer demand from September 2025 and on.

According to the regional mining administration office, five companies have graphite mining licenses within range of the capital and not in the remote coasts:
– Gallois
– Tirupati
– Rostaing
– Powerstand (PSD)
– Madagascar Graphite and Mines

Why Mada Graphite?

Advantages of Madagascar graphite:

  • High purity: Madagascar graphite is particularly pure and has excellent electrical conductivity.

  • Good crystalline structure: the crystalline structure is of good quality, making it suitable for industrial applications and battery production.

  • Export restrictions are imposed in other major producing countries, but not in Madagascar.

‘We are a trading company specialising in the supply of rare metals, which are at the heart of next-generation technologies. Through the supply of high-quality graphite, we support innovation in areas such as battery manufacturing, electric vehicles and renewable energy. Our graphite delivers superior performance and long life and take our customers’ products to the next level.”

Powering the Future with Critical Minerals

Madagascar Metals is a leading supplier of graphite and rare earth elements from Madagascar and other African nations, meeting the growing demands of Japan and the USA for sustainable and secure mineral supply chains.

Critical Minerals and Supply Chain Insights

Sourced from U.S. National Labs and Department of Defense Reports

China’s Export Restrictions

China, controlling ~80% of tungsten, 56% of antimony, and a significant share of bismuth, has imposed export bans to the U.S., impacting defense and technology sectors. Madagascar Metals offers alternative sourcing from Africa to mitigate these risks.

U.S. Department of Defense Constraints

From 2027, the U.S. DoD will be barred from procuring critical minerals like tungsten, antimony, and bismuth from China or Russia. Our African operations ensure a reliable supply chain for these strategic materials.

Alternative Prospects

While Ukraine and Greenland are discussed as mineral sources, their deposits remain inaccessible. Madagascar Metals leverages Africa’s rich graphite and rare earth deposits, offering a cost-competitive alternative to domestic U.S. sources like Alaska’s Graphite Creek.

Price Dynamics

China’s export bans have driven price floors for antimony ($39,000/metric ton in 2024), gallium, and germanium. Graphite prices are under evaluation, while lithium prices are declining. Madagascar Metals ensures stable supply to hedge against market volatility.

Germanium and Gallium Extraction

Germanium and gallium, critical for semiconductors, are byproducts of bauxite or zinc deposits. Madagascar Metals is exploring advanced extraction techniques to recover these minerals from African deposits, complementing our graphite focus.

China’s Processing Dominance

China’s advanced refining capabilities, developed since the 1990s, outpace U.S. efforts. Madagascar Metals is investing in local processing facilities in Africa to reduce reliance on foreign refining and enhance supply chain resilience.

Mining Restrictions

U.S. and China restrict access to their mineral mines, complicating reverse-engineering of refining processes. Madagascar Metals operates transparently in Africa, adhering to international standards while securing supply chains.

Other Critical Minerals

Graphite, cobalt, and steel are vital for EV batteries and industrial applications. Platinum and palladium come from South Africa’s Bushveld Complex, while nickel and copper are sourced from Russia’s Norilsk. Madagascar Metals prioritizes graphite and rare earths for U.S. and Japanese markets.

U.S. Strategic Priorities

The U.S. prioritizes natural graphite (synthetic is cost-prohibitive) and rare earths for defense and tech. R&D funding starts in October 2025. Madagascar Metals aligns with these priorities, supplying high-quality graphite and REEs from Africa.
